Streaming Resources
Hello there!
Streaming can be an overwhelming thing to do if you are just starting out. There's equipment, software, and many other things to consider. Below are a few categories to help folk get started with streaming. Keep in mind, all of my experience with streaming is on PC. If you want to stream solely from console, there may be YouTube videos that you can look up.
If I ever get sponsored by a place, I will putt a big ol' warning on it, but otherwise, I ain't sponsored.

Software
Streaming Software are the programs used to put your stream up on a platform, like Twitch or YouTube. There are a few out there but there's only one that I can really recommend.
OBS Studio - this is a free software that is installed on your computer. There are many plug-ins across the internet, making OBS quite customizable to whatever you eventually want to do with it. I recommend going through YouTube, as there are many videos on installing said plug-ins or have direct links to them in the video description.
Equipment
Links in this section go to the products that I use. However, there are many pieces of equipment out there that you can use. To start streaming you just need the following.
Basics
These physical items are what you need to stream.
Computer - If you are on a budget, I'd recommend a prebuilt laptop that you get on sale. If you can afford it, a custom built desktop computer can't be beat.
The next step that I would recommend is a microphone. Once you get used to streaming gameplay.
Microphone - This is the microphone that I use. The link will lead you to an amazon page. There is a chance that it won't be available anymore when you click said link.
Advanced
These physical items aren't necessary, but are nice to have.
Webcam - Regardless of if you want to do facecam (Your real face is on screen) or you want to be a Vtuber (An image on screen to represent you), you're going to need a webcam. This links to the camera that I use, but it isn't the end-all-be-all. Each webcam has its learning curb, so keep that in mind.

Plugins
There are many plugins for OBS, with more being developed all the time. I will be using terminology that you will be familiar with once you've been using OBS for a while. The following are SOME of the plugins I use for OBS.

Move - This is a fabulous plugin that is very versatile and opens up many, MANY creative possibilities when combined with other plugins. This is also the foundation plugin for many plugins that I use.
Source Clone - Another fundamental plugin for OBS. This allows you to clone sources and apply different filters. So you can have the same thing on your stream but with different things applied to each.
3D Effect - This is one I need to use more often, but it allows you to give a 3D effect to a source.
StreamUp Scene as Transition - Here's another really neat one you can use to give your stream a bit of extra oomph. It allows you to use a scene to be your transition between other scenes. I use it to display my book series logo.
Waveform - this is a plugin that shows your audio source as a cosmetic spectrum graph. There are several options and with other plugins it can be turned into many shapes.
You can find more plugins here on the OBS Project forum.

Streaming Tutorials
Links in this section go to videos and creators that can help you with running things on your stream.
My personal collection of tutorials- Note: On this one, the videos are changing. Some go private, some get removed, so if you see a video, make sure you add it to your own Watch Later List.
Gael Level - I highly recommend checking this YouTuber out. He does a lot of tutorials about OBS, Twitch, YouTube, and graphic design, and he has a lot of creative ideas you could use for your stream.
Nutty - Another fantastic YouTuber, he covers a lot of OBS plugins, where to find them, and how to use them.

Bots for Your Channel
There are many bots that can help you with your channel, from special effects to helping you keep those terrible scam bots and the occasional troll out of your chat. There are other sites that have a directory of Twitch bots, but the following are either bots that I use.
Accurate as of December 2024. I will update the information if it changes and am aware of said change.
01

Name: Sery_bot
Bot Type: Moderation
Platform: Twitch only
Install Ease: Easy. Follow the simple directions on the about page and you'll be able to use it.
Interactions: It does have a few unique ones. After setting it up in your Twitch chat, type in 'good bot', for example.
My Experience: Absolutely, 100%, you need this bot. It does a lot of heavy lifting when it comes to protecting you from hate raids and bad actors on Twitch.
03

Name: Streamlabs Chatbot
Bot Type: Multi-purpose
Platform: Twitch & YouTube
Install Ease: Difficult.
Interactions: You can make custom commands, but there are a few broken features in the bot.
My Experience: I still use this bot because of the various OBS plugins that would break if I were to remove it. I do like it, but there are better bots out there.
02
Name: Nightbot
Bot Type: Multi-purpose
Platform: Multi-platform
Install Ease: Relatively easy. Login with the platform account you want to use and it will be in your chat.
Interactions: You can make custom commands, but remember to keep it TOS friendly.
My Experience: This was a decent starter bot. They have a documentation to help you make commands.
04

Name: Kruiz Control
Bot Type: Commands
Platform: Multi-platform
Install Ease: Difficult at first.
Interactions: You can create custom commands using pseudo code.
My Experience: I greatly recommend this particular 'bot', though bot isn't entirely the correct term. If you use this one, please join the Kruiz Control Discord as there are a lot of people there that can help you with any problems you might have with Kruiz Control.
